Trip to Ooty: Day 1 :Conoor: Places to See around Conoor

A view on th way from Connor to Dalphin's nose
Sudhi mava and Shobatte have been inviting me to come to ooty from the time he has come there.A fine day friday finally came after 6 months of invites when i decided to go to ooty. It was not that i have seen it many times before. Have seen it only once during my engineering days. But somehow our free times were not matching. This time, the desire to see Conoor which is 14 km from Ooty finally driven me to start from Bangalore. Airavat which was scheduled to leave Bangalore at 945 left at 10:30 pm and reached Ooty main bus stand by 6:10 on Saturday morning. It was a misty morning and i had to find my bus to Conoor from Ooty.

Although coming to city bus stand was not a difficult task, asking for the correct bus to go to Conoor was a real difficult task. I could neither speak Tamil so that i could ask some of the localites nor i could find any english boards in the different buses which stood there so that i could find my way myself. Finally could manage to ask one of the drivers with English and he could tell me that i need to go to the bus with number 423 !!. Thank god, at least numbers are in English. Later i could find many local buses and names of places written in both English and Tamil though.Sorry, not to hurt anyone. But it was bit difficult for me to find my way through due to this language barrier earlier.
Bus fare from Ooty to Conoor was 13 Rs.

After refreshing at Mava's home, we went to see the
  • Wellington Lake first. Entry fee here is 10 per person and extra 15 for boating which i found quite economical. You can also enjoy Musical fountain from 6:30-7 PM everyday.
